Not meeting the W.H.O's recommendation has the greatest impact on those who use public medical care.
Pharmacists in South Africa are of the opinion that by doing clinical work, they reduce medication errors and improve prescribing patterns in their standard practices of clinical pharmacy.
Around 90% of pharmacists conducting clinical work inspect prescriptions for medication errors in the ward.
In 2011, Less than a third (29%) of pharmacists were employed in the public sector, having to service the majority (80%) of the population.
South Africa needed to register an average of 1200 pharmacists per year To meet the W.H.O recommendation by 2030.
